Join us on International Dawn Chorus Day!

Every year on the first Sunday of May, people come together across the world to celebrate International Dawn Chorus Day. If you have not yet experienced a Dawn Chorus – it truly is worth the early alarm. This year, Dawn Chorus Day falls on 5th May.

We have a number of events you can attend across South Wales, to listen to natures greeting as the sun rises.

5th May Coed-y-Bedw at 5am

Meeting Place: Park at the quarry entrance on Heol Goch Road between Taffs Well and Pentyrch (ST 10937 82507).

Time: 5am – 7am

Clothing Requirements: Sturdy footwear i.e. wellies or walking boots. Weather appropriate clothing.

Price: Suggested donation of £2 to support the conservation work of the Wildlife Trust.

For those of you who can’t face the early alarm, join Megan for Wildlife Watch!

Perfect for young environmentalists and nature enthusiasts aged from 5 – 13 years old.

4th May Parc Slip Nature Reserve at 10am

Meeting Place: Parc Slip Nature Reserve Visitor Centre, upstairs in the Discovery Room.

Age group: 5 to 13 years. Please note all children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to meetings.

Clothing requirements: Please bring wellies, warm clothes and waterproofs as we always venture outside, regardless of the weather!

Price: £2

Don’t forget to pop into the visitor centre for some delicious home made cakes and a cuppa!

5th May Cae Eglwys Nature Reserve at 6am

Meeting place: If driving, meet at 05:30 at the Brecon Beacons National Park car park (Plas y Ffynnon, LD3 7HP, grid ref SO053280). If walking from home, meet on the way to the reserve.

Clothing requirements: Sturdy footwear i.e. wellies or walking boots. Weather appropriate clothing. Bring binoculars if you have them.

Price: Suggested donation of £2 to support the conservation work of the Wildlife Trust
