King Charles and Queen Camilla were in Brecon on Wednesday 20th July,2023.  Their visits included celebrating the centenary of Brecon Cathedral as well as the Diocese of Swansea, Brecon Theatre and the Brecknock Agricultural Show.

Pauline Hill, WTSWW People and Wildlife Officer, was invited by Clare Morgan, Bishop’s Officer for Children Youth and Families to be amongst the people introduced to their Highnesses in Brecon Cathedral.

Pauline has been working with Clare at family environment engagement events and to improve the biodiversity in the Cathedral grounds.  She has also been working with the Green Minds gardening project.

This project focuses on improving the well-being and mental health of the volunteers through growing vegetables, fruit trees and flowers in the Cathedral grounds.   Pauline also held workshops in the garden to help volunteers to identify some of the insects and other wildlife.

‘It was a long and somewhat surreal morning but I was honoured to be amongst those chosen to meet King Charles and Queen Camilla.’  Pauline Hill, People and Wildlife Officer -Brecknock.
