Following a successful fundraising appeal we are delighted to introduce you to our new tractor on Gower!
With thanks to the generosity of our supporters we have successfully raised enough funds to purchase a new alpine tractor and flail collector mower. This equipment will mean many of our special habitats and species will benefit from increased targeted management.
The Swansea and Neath Port Talbot team wasted no time in putting the tractor to work! It first tackled the sward at Overton Mere Nature Reserve to enable more effective grazing. It has since been used to complete scrub management on the pasture at Roydon’s Corner and to cut some sections of the coastpath. Its next destination is out onto the heath on Overton Cliff to manage firebreaks in the gorse.
We’d like to say a special big thank you to those members who donated to our appeal and to the grant providers including Dwr Cymru and Welsh Government via the Gower AONB Sustainable Development Fund.
