The Winter Bird Walks have been a very popular event in Brecknock for many years, and unfortunately as COVID 19 is still circulating, we are retaining the ‘little but more often’ approach to these walks.
There will be three walks this year but the groups will remain small so that everyone can remain safely spaced and learn about the birds from our expert volunteers. Unfortunately we will not be able to provide the usual refreshments afterwards so please bring a hot drink with you.
This year expert Andrew King has suggested a new venue at Usk Reservoir for a walk on Saturday 20th November. This reservoir is surrounded by forestry and farmland so should provide some additional migrant birds to the wildfowl on the water.
Two walks are planned around the southern shoreline of Llangorse Lake where the many migratory wildfowl spend the winter. This is our usual venue where the birds can usually be seen clearly from the shore providing the weather isn’t too misty! These are on Saturday 11th December and Sunday 16th January 2022.
You can find more details on the walks and register your place by visiting the Brecknock page on the WTSWW website.
Remember to scroll down to find the events, beneath the reserve details. Once you have clicked on the event of choice, please book through the Eventbrite links provided. As places are limited please only book on to one event initially to enable different people to attend something. However do check a few days before the dates to see if there are spare places.
