National Nature Service

Thanks to funding from Welsh Government, we will be contributing to the development of The National Nature Service scheme. The NNS aims to restore nature by creating new nature based jobs and livelihood opportunities and embedding green skills across the workforce of the future.

We need to think how we face the climate, nature and health emergencies, whilst also responding to the current Cost of Living crisis. To do this Wales needs to adopt fresh, new solutions which can start to tackle these issues now and in the future by changing how the way we live and work.

A national nature service will build a skilled green workforce for the long term by providing green jobs and supporting work of any type which aims to restore the natural environment (including conservation, farming, forestry, eco-tourism and nature-based businesses) .

Why do we need a National Nature Service?

The Covid-19 pandemic has accelerated the need to realign how we face the climate, nature and health emergencies, whilst responding to immediate economic challenges including widespread unemployment. To deliver on wellbeing for current and future generations, Wales needs to adopt ambitious, systemic solutions which can start to address immediate needs whilst looking to the long-term and transforming the way we do things.
