WTSWW’s Top 5 Christmas Gifts!

The Merry month of December is just around the corner, and we have put together a top 5 list of the most essential gift purchases on offer via our online shop and the Welsh Wildlife Centre Gift Shop!

  1. Wildlife Trusts 2022 Calendar

An annual best-seller, the Wildlife Trusts 2022 calendar makes for an ideal Christmas gift. It features stunning images of some of the UK’s most iconic wildlife, both terrestrial and marine, and the vibrant images will brighten up any room or office all year round. The calendar also includes a bonus month for you to note down your January 2023 appointments!

The calendar is environmentally friendly, with it being FSC certified and containing 50% recycled pages. It is supplied in a compostable bag and printed using vegetable based inks in the UK.
  1. Skomer Island by Mike Alexander

Mike Alexander, a former warden of Skomer Island and current Chair of the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales, produced this absolutely fascinating and wonderful book about the island, with many people expressing that this is one of the most complete accounts of the island’s natural history.

The book is illustrated beautifully throughout, including many photographs taken by Mike of the island’s species and habitats, as well as previously unpublished archive photographs from the island’s former farming families.

Mike’s book has been referred to as the “Skomer Bible” by readers and is the fruit of his close connection with the island for almost 60 years. This is an essential purchase for anyone who is interested in Skomer Island, and would make for a superb Christmas gift.
  1. Recycled Soft Toys

A hugely popular new addition to our retail offering at the Welsh Wildlife Centre this year is the range of Living Nature Soft Toys made from recycled plastics. All materials, except for the eyes, are made from 100% certified post-consumer plastics, the type normally used for drinks bottles and food containers.

The toys measure around 15cm and are suitable for children aged 0+, so make for a wonderful gift for all ages – they are even popular with adults too!
The range includes owls, foxes, ducks, seals and more!
  1. Handmade baubles and felt decorations

Brand new to our stores for 2021! Hand painted glass baubles and fair trade hand felted wildlife tree decorations! The bright and cheerful trinkets are sure to stand out on the Christmas tree!
