Welsh Wildlife Centre summer events!

Look out for the arrival of a new exciting willow structure at the Teifi Marshes Nature Reserve this month. Sadly our much loved willow badger is looking rather tatty now and repeated damage and misuse have caused it to become too expensive to repair.

Fear not though, the talented Michelle Cain has created a fantastic and worthy replacement, an otter! Hopefully it will be in place by the end of the month so come along and get a selfie with the new character.

Over the school summer holidays, at the Welsh Wildlife Centre, we have an exciting range of outdoor nature activities and indoor craft events to keep you happy, whatever the weather.

Starting on 21st July and running until 1st September activities are suitable for children aged 3+ and cost just £4 each.

Due to limited availability, we highly recommend that you book and pay in advance either over the phone (01239 621600) or in person Wednesdays to Sundays 10am-4pm.

*Please do not leave booking requests on the answerphone as we don't have staff capacity to follow these up at the moment.

• Wednesday mornings we have a Mini-beast Safari to two different habitats; discover what lurks beneath the leaf litter then use a sweep net to find creatures that inhabit the meadows.

• Wednesday afternoons are Crafty sessions- Come and paint a planter, coin box, bird/bug house or hedgehog to take home.

• Thursday mornings we are running guided nature walks and activities for families. Join us for a walk around the reserve, learning about the wildlife here and completing hands-on activities along the way.

• Thursday afternoons we’re getting creative with clay modelling sessions.

• Fridays are pond dipping days, come and learn about the variety of life in and around our ponds.

For more details about specific events please visit our website
here or Facebook page.

Another important note for your diaries is the Welsh Wildlife Centre September closure dates. The visitor centre, shop and café will all be closed from Monday 6th September to Tuesday 14th September.

This is to allow staff to have a well-earned rest after the hectic summer holiday period. The nature reserve and car park will be accessible to the public during this time but there will be no toilet facilities whilst the buildings are closed. We will reopen Wednesday 15th September at 10am and from then open every Wednesday to Sunday 10am-4pm.

All proceeds from the events, shop, café and car park help us in our conservation efforts.

We hope that you enjoy your visit, please remember to follow all signage and respect the staff and volunteers that are working hard in very busy circumstances.
