Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales

One of 47 Wildlife Trusts across the UK. We are the fourth largest in area, covering from Cardiff and Caerphilly in the east to Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire in the west, and include three of the West Wales islands amongst our 90 or so nature reserves. Our priorities are to manage these reserves for wildlife and provide educational opportunities.

Marine Environmental Monitoring

Subcontractor for the co-ordination and carcass retrieval of Welsh marine mammal and turtle strandings. By keeping accurate records of all strandings, an indication of what species occur around the UK can be built up and records of mortality can quickly highlight unusual numbers of strandings, flagging up potential problems.
Part of the collaborative UK Cetacean Strandings Investigation Programme (CSIP).
