Kate Gwynn is The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales' new work placement student and will be with us for the next. We are very excited to have her join our team and had her write a bit about herself so that you could all get to know her a little better...

As the new placement student with the South and West Wales Wildlife Trust let me tell you a little about myself. I was raised here in South Wales and have been studying Ecology at Aberystwyth University the past two years. Regularly volunteering with the Trust, I learnt about this placement when asking a staff member to be my reference for another position. Although, on hearing of this opportunity I knew it was where I wanted to be! Whilst with the Trust I can’t wait to expand my knowledge of our beautiful wildlife and develop my ability to classify it. I am keen to get underway with my projects, particularly those investigating lapwings. I will potentially be considering methods to identify and increase the abundance of prey items (earthworms) through liming the soil. I am thrilled to be working for WTSWW, being with like minded people who are passionate about wildlife delights me!
