Dave Astins, a supporter of The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales took on the mammoth task of training and competing in the IRONMAN Wales competition on Saturday 24th September. Luckily there were great conditions and Dave completed the competition at a time quicker than he expected, 11:07:10! Dave came inside the top 200 (out of 1,700 finishers) and 22nd out of 257 in his age group.

He said after the event "As I expected this was a tough event, but I was surprised how much I enjoyed it.  To finish in 11 hours 7 minutes is a dream.  The crowds were incredible, it has to be seen to be believed.  Now for a rest!"

We're so proud and incredibly grateful to Dave for his commitment and support for the Trust. So far he has managed to raise just over a whopping £1,700 for the Trust's conservation work! His JustGiving page is still open and any last minute donations would be very much appreciated by both Dave and The Trust! - Thank you!
