February Half Term at Welsh Wildlife Centre

Come and visit Teifi Marshes Nature Reserve and Welsh Wildlife Centre in beautiful West Wales this half term. We have amazing activities and exciting events to keep you and your little ones happy this half term.

Mini-beast Hunt & Make a Mini-beast Home (Wednesday 18th Feb 11:30am-12:30pm)

Children’s activity, learning about and looking for leaf litter mini-beasts in the quarry/gorge followed by making your own mini-beast home in the Ysgol Natur/Nature School (opposite park). Suitable for ages 3+.

Some terrain may not be fully accessible for wheelchairs/prams but if you let me know when booking I can alter route. Well behaved dogs on leads welcome for outside element of activity. Cost £4 per child, accompanying adults free.

Crafty Afternoon (Wednesday 18th Feb 1:30pm-3:30pm)

Suitable for adults or children from age 2 years. Price is for a half hour session and one item to paint, chosen form a variety of ceramic or wooden products. Choices include wind chimes, plant pots, tea light holders and wooden/ceramic animals. (If we have space we are not too strict about the half hour time limit). Cost £4 per person participating but no charge for accompanying adults.

Bird Watch & Make a Feeder (Thursday 19th Feb 11:30am-12:30pm)

Children’s activity, recommended age from 3 years. We’ll watch and identify birds around the visitor centre then go to Ysgol Natur (Nature School opposite play area) to make a simple bird feeder to take home. Cost £4 per child, accompanying adults free. Well behaved dogs on leads welcome.

Decoupage a Tea-light Holder (Friday 20th Feb 1:30-3:30pm)

Suitable for adults or children from age 3 years. We will use translucent paper and glue to decorate a jar to make a lantern. Downstairs from shop in Education space. Price is for half hour session, one jar, tea-light and collage materials. Cost £4 per person participating but no charge for accompanying adults.

Hedgehog Heroes (Friday 20th Feb 11:30am-12:30pm)

Information/games/poo and craft activity to learn about hedgehogs. *Possible live hedgehog from local rescue centre to visit depending on availability (but not guaranteed). Suitable for children 3+ and costs £4 per child. 

Slate Painting (Friday 20th Feb 1:30-3:30pm)

Suitable for adults or children from age 3 years. Price is for a half hour session and one piece of Teifi Marshes’ slate to paint. Choose whether to create a memento of your visit here by painting your favourite wildlife or create a mandala pattern. Cost £4 per person participating but no charge for accompanying adults.

The nature reserve and visitor centre are free to enter with just £5 to pay for all day parking. The reserve has a variety of trails to explore, many of which are accessible. There are bird hides to look out for the resident Kingfishers and Otters and 2 playground areas to run off excess energy. Dogs are welcome on the reserve if kept on leads and please do use the dog bins for disposing of dog waste. The Glasshouse Café has delicious food and drinks. Seating is available indoors or outside overlooking our beautiful reed beds and woodland, stunning in their autumn colours.

All proceeds from the events, shop, café and car park help us in our conservation efforts.
