Farm Liaison Officer

Closing date:
Salary: £16,800 (£28,000 pro rata)
Contract type: Fixed term / Working hours: Part time
Home or office-based with travel throughout South Wales (Carmarthenshire, Brecknock, Glamorgan)
We're looking for a Farm Liaison Officer as part of a wider 5-year project to support more farmers transitioning to sustainable farming practices, helping to restore nature and improve the viability of the UK farming sector.

About the role

We are looking for someone with experience of working with the farming / smallholder community and with sound ecological knowledge, particularly of nature-friendly farming and ecosystems services.  This is part of a wider 5-year project to support more farmers transitioning to sustainable farming practices by increasing access to accredited land advice services, which will help restore nature and improve the viability of the UK farming sector.

You will have an aptitude for both outdoors and desk-based work and will engage with farmers and smallholders to improve condition and resilience of our agricultural landscapes and improve the performance of their farming business, particularly in light of the changing legislative framework in Wales.

As part of the wider Conservation Team you will be helping us work towards nature’s recovery, demonstrating the relevance of our work to the climate and ecological crises and championing the intrinsic importance of collaboration between farming and wildlife.

We are committed to putting equality, diversity and inclusion at the heart of The Wildlife Trusts, to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to experience the joy of wildlife in their daily lives.
