Butterfly walk at the Roath Wild Gardens
Event details
About the event
Come and join the Cardiff Local Group as we wander around the Wild Gardens searching for butterflies. This small piece of damp mixed woodland is home to a variety of different butterflies. No previous experience is needed just an interest in learning about the range of butterflies and day flying moths that live around us or in brushing up your ID skills. We will be recording for the big butterfly count, and providing some simple butterfly ID handouts for you take take home with you.
The stroll is also an opportunity to celebrate the work completed by members of the Cardiff Group of WTSWW, the Cardiff Youth Forum and others like the Cardiff Rivers Group and those who have volunteered to successfully tackle what was the overwhelming Himalayan Balsam. In its place we now see stands of Loosestrife and Meadow Sweet.
We will be following paths around the wood but in wet weather these can get muddy in places.
Meet at the bridge on Wild Gardens Road at 2pm.
