About the event
Sorcha and family farm with nature in mind on their hill farm overlooking Penygarreg Reservoir. Consequently their meadows are rich in wildflowers and invertebrates. Hopefully we will see globeflowers blooming and other flowers beginning to show. Sorcha also has water voles around the pond.
We will also learn about the Nature Friendly Farming network providing peer support for farmers encouraging wildlife and demonstrating a different way to farm.
Please bring a packed lunch and something to drink. Make sure you have warm layers and waterproofs. The weather up here can be quite different to Brecon. Sturdy walking shoes/boots or wellies. Binoculars, hand lens and notebook may be useful.
The location given on this page is the parking area. It is not very accurate so I will provide more details of the meeting point location in your confirmation email. Sorcha will meet us here and the group will walk approx 500m uphill to her meadows. The walking on the farm will be moderately strenuous on the farm, without clear paths, so please consider whether you will manage this.
Penbont Tea Rooms are just below this farm. You may wish to stop there for refreshments after the visit. It would be advisable to book on sunny days, remember this is a Bank Holiday weekend so there are likely to be extra people around.
