About the event

Come and learn more about the ultimate flying machine - the Swift!

Swift by name and swift by nature. These incredible birds can reach 70mph. Each year they fly to Africa and back without ever landing.

Brecon & District Swift Group and the Brecon Local Group of WTSWW are joining forces to raise awareness of this amazing species. Discover more on our Swift Spotting Stroll around the swift hotspots in Brecon prior to Swift awareness week. Learn about their amazing life story, the threats they face and what we can do to help them.

We will be walking on pavements but some areas are a little steep. The route length will be between one and two miles.

Please wear layers appropriate to the forecast and suitable footwear.

Dogs

Assistance dogs only

Although there are no restrictions for dogs in Brecon the activity is not suitable for dogs other than assistance dogs.  We will be a relatively large group walking along narrow pavements and stopping often.

Mobility

We will be mostly walking on pavements but crossing some roads. There will be some slopes to negotiate.  The route will be between 1 to 2 miles.

Wheelchair access

Most of the route is accessible for wheelchair users or can be adapted, however some short sections are quite steep and therefore challenging for manual wheelchair users

What to bring

Wear suitable footwear for the distance and layers appropriate to the forecast.   You may like to bring water. bring binoculars if you have them.

Parking is available at the meeting place. It is free after 6pm.
