About the event
FULLY BOOKED
A beautiful, flat walk through the Ty Mawr meadows led by the Brecknock Botany Group. These flower rich meadows are grazed by ponies and managed to create one of the most important SSSI wildlife areas in Wales. In winter the meadows are flooded which is responsible for many of the particular species found there. We will be looking out for species such a Tubular Water Dropwort, Pink Speedwell, Flowering Rush, Burr Marigold, and a Variety of Sedges. Orchids are a particular feature at this time of year.
This year the walk will be a whole day event. Starting at the Llangors lake cafe and walking on footpaths around the lake as far as Llangasty Church and then back on the same route, approx 3-4 miles in total. No stiles are involved. Please bring a packed lunch which we will eat in the bird hide on the way round. Bring binoculars , hand lens if you have one, water and clothing for the forecast. In case of previous wet weather wellies are recommended particularly for looking in areas where sedges will be growing.
Please note that numbers are limited for this event.
Not suitable for dogs or wheelchairs.
