25/06/2013: 8 Atlantic grey seals, 4 harbour porpoise & 34 bottlenose dolphins

23 bottlenose dolphins, two Atlantic grey seals, four harbour porpoises

(Anna Lloyd) A single dolphin was seen foraging off the end of the harbour wall and a group of five were seen leaping further north past the cardinal buoy. Another group of dolphins consisting of three adults and a calf were seen leaping, foraging and tail slapping in the waters around Ynys Lochtyn. Two harbour porpoises, and associated kittiwakes were then seen foraging further up the coast by Aberporth. On the return trip two harbour porpoises were seen in the same location. Three dolphins; one juvenile and two adults were seen travelling east in the waters around Ynys Lochtyn and a further five were seen foraging and occasionally leaping in a loose group north of Llangrannog. A mother and calf were seen bowriding further north. Two grey seals were seen hauled out; one young female south of cymtydu and another female by birds rock. Towards the very end of the survey three dolphins were seen foraging then leaping by the fish factory headland. Other sightings included a fulmar, a flock of scoter and moon jellyfish.

(Sulaire) A single Atlantic grey seal was seen in the water just past the fish factory headland and another was seen just past cymtydu. A single bottlenose dolphin was seen travelling north offshore from cymtydu.

Three Atlantic grey seals and three bottlenose dolphins.

(Sulaire) A female grey seal was seen hauled out by the bird colonies. A single bottlenose dolphin was seen foraging south of cymtydu. Two seals were seen by the bird colonies, one in water and one hauled out. Two dolphins were then seen just off the headland, one was travelling east.

(Sulaire) Three bottlenose dolphins were seen foraging in the harbour just as the survey started. An Atlantic grey seal was seen hauled out by the bird colonies. Two groups of dolphins were seen when returning into the harbour; a mother and calf and two adults, they were foraging.
