16/07/13 – 51 bottlenose dolphins, 4 harbour porpoises & 11 Atlantic grey seals

18 bottlenose dolphins & one Atlantic grey seal

Seven adult bottlenose dolphins with three calves were seen feeding, leaping, and bow and wake riding near the fish factory and gannets were seen diving and feeding amongst the dolphins. One female Atlantic grey seal was seen hauled out just past Cym Tydu. A further six adult bottlenose dolphins with two calves were seen feeding on fish and foraging around the fish factory on the return to New Quay.

21 bottlenose dolphins & four Atlantic grey seals

Several groups of dolphins were seen foraging, mingling and travelling between the New Quay harbour and Cym Tydu beach. Just past Cym Tydu, two Atlantic grey seals were seen hauled out and two were seen in the water. Four bottlenose dolphins with one calf were seen mingling travelling in close contact on the return to New Quay harbour, near the fish factory.

Seven bottlenose dolphins, two harbour porpoises & three Atlantic grey seals

Near the fish factory four adult bottlenose dolphins were seen mingling with two calves. Three Atlantic grey seals were seen near Cym Tydu – one was in the water, the other two were hauled out – along with two harbour porpoises which were foraging. One bottlenose dolphin was seen foraging on the return to New Quay harbour.

5 bottlenose dolphins, two harbour porpoise & three Atlantic grey seals

Three bottlenose dolphins were seen foraging and tail slapping at the start of the survey. Just past Cym Tydu, three Atlantic grey seals and two harbour porpoises were sighted. Two more bottlenose dolphins were spotted foraging near the fish factory on the return to New Quay.
