Creepy Crafts, Fantastic Beasts and Autumn Walks at the Welsh Wildlife Centre

This October Half Term at the Welsh Wildlife Centre, there are plenty of thrilling Halloween and autumn themed activities happening throughout the week!

Come on an autumnal nature walk and make some leafy crafts on Monday 29 October, and get crafty later on in the week by creating a colourful wooden owl on Thursday 1 November and a 3D wooden bird on Friday 2 November.

On Tuesday 30 October, come and see some awesome owls from 10:30am-3pm and have a go at some creepy clay creature making! Entry to see the owls is FREE and the clay modelling costs £3 per child.

On Halloween day itself, the wonderful Silent World will be visiting the Centre with their Fantastic Beasts! Two sessions take place from 11am and 2pm, £5 for adults and £3 for children. There will also be Halloween crafts available and a mysterious quiz trail happening on both the 30th and 31st October.

Summer Holiday Fun at the Welsh Wildlife Centre!

The Welsh Wildlife Centre plays host to an array of exciting activities this summer holiday with a rolling programme of events happening across six weeks, with a different activity happening each weekday! Activities take place from Monday 23 July until Friday 31 August with two sessions – one at 11am and one at 2pm.

 

Shelter Building

Every Monday, get active outdoors and have a go at some shelter building with our new People & Wildlife Officer, Gretchen.

Discover what lies beneath the surface of the water in our pond dipping sessions on Tuesdays. Please note that due to the hot weather, we may have to revert to an alternative activity depending on the water level of the pond!

On Wednesday, go on a mini-beast safari and discover a fascinating world of bugs, creepy crawlies and insects.

Craft Activity - Wildlife Home (Ladybird)

Thursdays and Fridays are our ‘arts & crafts’ days, where you can paint a ladybird home on the Thursday or paint a toadstool bird feeder on the Friday.

Outdoor activities are £3 per child, and the painting activities are £4 per child. Booking is recommended for all activities, please call 01239 621600 to reserve spaces.

Pay a visit to the Welsh Wildlife Centre this Whitsun half term for a whole host of fun activities!

On the Bank Holiday Monday 28th May, have a go at some archery! The whole family can have a go with adult and children bows available, plus there are even tiny bows for toddlers too!

Get arty on Tuesday 29th, Wednesday 30th May and Friday 1st June where you can paint frog & toad bunkers, bee homes and tea pot bird feeders on the respective days !

On Thursday 31st May, search for snakes, lizards and slow worms on a fantastic reptile ramble in the morning, and paint your own swaying lizard in the afternoon!

Over the two weekends, there will also be a range of craft activities available for children.

Booking is highly recommended for the painting activities, and is essential for the reptile ramble with payment required in advance to secure your place. To book spaces, please call 01239 621600. No booking is required for the archery and weekend crafts.

Pay a visit to the Welsh Wildlife Centre this Easter holidays for some egg-citing events and activities!

Over the Easter Weekend, have a go at the egg-cellent Easter Egg Hunt and some fantastic craft activities! The Centre will also be welcoming some egg-stra special guests on Good Friday when Pant Glas birds of Prey visit us with a selection of owls and hawks!

Silent World Zoo 2U will also be calling in on Easter Monday with their Fantastic Beasts – learn all about their way of life and where they come from, plus you can even hold some of them!

During the fortnight of festivities, there will be various wildlife themed craft activities happening on select dates including painting bee, butterfly and ladybird homes and even squirrel feeders too!

Pond dipping sessions and mini-beast safaris will also be occurring on Tuesdays (3rd & 10th April) and Thursdays (5th & 12th April) respectively.

**Due to the impending cold weather, we have decided to postpone our charity car boot sale until a later date. Please check our website for further information in the near future.**

Grab yourself a bargain or have a really good Spring clear out! Pitches are available to book at £10 each with all funds raised going towards the conservation work of the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales.

To book a pitch, please complete the booking form which can be accessed via the link below. Please return the form along with payment to the Welsh Wildlife Centre, payment by cash, card or cheque is accepted. Full details including terms and conditions can be found on the form.

Welsh Wildlife Centre Car Boot Sale Booking Agreement

The sales area will be open from 8.30am for stallholders to set up and will be open to shoppers from 10am. Free entry to shoppers, the usual £3 car parking charge applies for non-members of the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales.

The Glasshouse Cafe will be serving breakfast baguettes, and the Gift Shop will be open as usual too.

Get arty at the Welsh Wildlife Centre this February Half Term! Activities are planned every day from Monday 19 until Friday 23 February 2018!

 

Throughout the week, you can get creative by painting swaying lizards, flower pots, bird feeders, shoulder bags and pieces of slate – there is a different activity every day and sessions start from 11am and 2pm. Full details below:

Silent World’s Fantastic Beasts

Have a Halloween Hoot at the Welsh Wildlife Centre this Autumn Half Term! The Centre has a whole host of events and activities happening throughout the week, including some spooktacular Halloween themed activities.

On Monday 30 October, Silent World will be visiting with their fantastic beasts. Find out all about their way of life and where they come from.

Come along to the Halloween Hoot on Tuesday 31 October where there will be Halloween craft activities, a mystery quiz trail and an array of owls and creepy crawlies to see courtesy of Pantglas Birds of Prey.

Throughout the rest of the week, have a go at a range of wonderful craft activities. Paint a ceramic owl or bat tea light holder on Wednesday 1 November, decorate a mushroom bird feeder on the Thursday and on Friday 3 November, have a go at some autumn leaf art!

With events taking place every day between July 22 and September 3, there’s plenty to do!

 

 

Every Monday during the holidays, make your own bubble wands and blow giant bubbles out on our badger meadow. On Tuesdays, have a go at some pond dipping and discover the aquatic wildlife of Teifi Marshes.

Wednesdays and Thursdays are our arts & crafts days. Paint your own swaying snake or lizard every Wednesday and on Thursdays you can paint your own wildlife flower pots.

SA37 Residents Join Free Parking Scheme at the Welsh Wildlife Centre

Since 2011, residents living within the SA43 postcode have been entitled to free parking at the Welsh Wildlife Centre.

The team at the Welsh Wildlife Centre have decided to expand this scheme to include households within the SA37 postcode.

Residents living within this postcode can sign up to the free parking scheme from Friday 21 October 2016. We are also requesting that all current SA43 members re-subscribe to the scheme in order to receive the new car sticker for 2017-18. This can be done from Friday 21 October also.

To subscribe or re-subscribe, please call in to the Welsh Wildlife Centre to fill out a form. We also request that you bring proof of address with you (eg. driving license, utility bill).
