On 22nd May at 5am, 10 dedicated wildlife enthusiasts met at Killay Marsh to listen to nature waking up, the dawn chorus. What a chorus it was!
The weather was bright and the sound of wildlife filled the air. In all, 18 different species of birds (19 if you include a neighbours cockerel!) were heard. Song Thrush, Wood pigeon, Great tit, Crow, Green woodpecker, Great spotted woodpecker, ChiffChaff, Jay, Blackbird, Dunnock, Robin, Gull, Blackcap, Magpie, Mistle thrush, Collared Dove, Wren and Blue tit all welcomed us to the marsh with their beautiful song.
A big thank you to volunteers Ciaran and Barbara whose bird song knowledge is excellent and helped to identify the chorus.
