‘The Beetles’ raise money for new Skomer Tractor

Skomer Tractor

Skomer Tractor

Are you barmy about bugs?

Local poet, Peter Brown has written a book full of bug inspired poetry! Each poem is accompanied by beautifully detailed illustrations by Fran Evans. The book helps educate readers about different species and their vital purpose in our ecosystem and is perfect for any wildlife enthusiast!

Signspeed along with the Darwin Centre are proud sponsors of the project, and look forward to distributing and selling the books very soon!

Peter has very kindly decided that he would like 100% of proceeds from the book to go towards the Skomer Island Tractor Appeal. This is brilliant news for The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales who manage Skomer Island, as well as the team of staff and volunteers who work on the island. The Skomer tractor, affectionately known as ‘Trundle’ is essential for the day to day work on the island.

Sylwia Zbijewska, Skomer Island Warden says:

‘’Skomer is in desperate need of a new vehicle to replace the tractor that is on its last legs! We use our vehicle for luggage, materials and tools transport as well as for launching the boat to monitor seabirds on ours and the neighbouring islands. We are thrilled by the generosity of everyone who has donated so far, thank you!”

We would like to thank Peter very much for his generosity and kindness.
