Bird sightings over Skomer Island June 2018
A Greylag Goose was seen on North Pond and Moorey Mere on the 4th and 5th. Six Snow Geese (five white and one blue morph) were present around North Pond between the 24th and 26th. Two flocks of Common Scoter passed on the 16th, one flock of six and a flock of eleven.
Five Grey Heron passed over on the 22nd, there were two the next day and twelve on the 24th.
A Black-tailed Godwit was present on North Pond between the 5th and 7th and there were four on the 30th. There were three Dunlin on the 22nd and one on the 27th. A Green Sandpiper settled briefly on Green Pond on the 28th.
Black-headed Gulls were seen on two dates. Collared Doves were seen on five dates. A Cuckoo was heard on the 9th. Swifts were seen on several dates with 24 on the 22nd and 36 on the 27th.
Sand Martins were seen on the 5th, 10th (two) and 23rd. House Martins were seen on several dates with eight on the 12th.
A maximum of seven Chiffchaffs were seen on the 7th. Willow Warblers were seen on the 4th and 5th and 28th and 30th. A Grasshopper Warbler was singing near Gorse Hill for two mornings in a row on the 27th and 28th.
A Rose-coloured Starling was seen in North Valley and around the Farm on the 4th.
There were six Spotted Flycatchers on the 1st, two on the 2nd and singles in the 4th, 5th and 21st.
