Volunteers at Rhos Marion and more

This month the volunteers have been hard at work. We have cut scrub at Pennar Fawr and Rhos Marion and cleared gorse at Rhos Glyn yr Helyg. The Natural Resources Wales volunteers and Peter Drake joined us for a day of hedgelaying at Caeau Llety Cybi. There is just one small section left to do now. We continued our thinning work at Coed Maidie B Goddard. It is progressing well and you can really tell where we have been. We also did some more birch thinning at Pant Da.

At Cwm Clettwr Jenny Macpherson and volunteers did the final check on the dormouse boxes and repaired a few. We didn’t find any dormice this month (they should all be hibernating) but we did find 10 very active woodmice! We have also spent a pretty wet day clearing one of the heathy outcrops of birch regrowth and a much drier day halo thinning around some of the oak trees in the dense birch woodland.

Thank you very much to everyone who has helped this month. If you would like to volunteer with us in Ceredigion there are work parties twice a week out on the reserves, year round, contact Em on 07980932332 or e.foot@welshwildlife.org or to find out more about Ceredigion reserves visit: https://welshwildlife.org/locations/ceredigion/
