Volunteer Support Needed for Data Input

The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales

The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales

Can you spare time to support the Trust with inputting data? Your time could be incredibly valuable and help the Trust claim back many thousands of pounds in Gift Aid.

The Gift Aid system allows the Trust to reclaim tax paid on donations made to the charity by UK taxpayers. This amounts to an extra 25p on top of every pound donated.

On Skomer, visitors paying the Gift Aid landing ticket price sign a Gift Aid declaration that allows us to claim against the value of their ticket. This is worth many thousands of pounds to the Trust each year and directly supports our conservation work.

However, each Gift Aid claim has to be backed up with a declaration on behalf of the individual taxpayer, and their details and the details of their individual donation need to be included in the Trust’s overall Gift Aid claim. For this reason, we need to input individual donor details securely into a large database to be able to make the claim from government.

To make this possible, we are currently looking for one or more dedicated and meticulous volunteers who is able to help us build this database. It involves being in receipt of a large number of original, signed gift aid declarations on Skomer landing tickets and inputting the data into an Excel spreadsheet. This can be done from home, it is not necessary to come into a Trust office. The total scale of the task is large with around six thousand tickets per year, but the financial return is significant.

If you think you could take on part of this task, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please contact:
