Around 15,000 day visitors visit Skomer every year

Around 15,000 day visitors visit Skomer every year

As well as tending to the day to day needs of Skomer visitors, both day visitors and overnight guests and caring for their accommodation, the post holder will be expected to take much more of a leading role in helping to improve the visitor experience and encourage more people to visit the island in the quieter spring and late summer seasons. We want to encourage more people to learn and engage more with the island during their visits- coming not just for the Puffins, but also for the Manx Shearwaters and Grey Seals, the migrant birds, the archaeology, and fascinating cultural history.

The ideal candidate will have exceptional inter-personal skills as they will be dealing with visitors and volunteers and liaising closely with the Skomer warden and all the other Trust staff both on the island and on the mainland. This is the ideal job for a ‘people person’; good wildlife knowledge would be beneficial but is not essential.

A full job description and application form can be found on our jobs page. The salary is £16,000 per year and accommodation and associated costs are provided for the (up to) 9 months of the season (approximately March to November) that the post will be resident on Skomer Island.

Please note we can’t accept applications by cv, it’s essential to use the application form. The closing date is 31 January and interviews will be on February 13th.
