County Appeal – East Glamorgan

Our Christmas appeal this year allows you to make a difference even closer to home and ensures that your kind donations are spent on the wildlife on your doorstep.

Just a few of our achievements this year:

Restoring heathland at Llyn Fach

Restoring heathland at Llyn Fach

This year Tim Jones and Carys Solman (Wildlife Trust Officers for east Glamorgan) and an army of volunteers have delivered many hundreds of days of work managing the 13 east Glamorgan reserves.

Work has begun at our newest reserve, Llyn Fach. We have been removing conifer regeneration and enhancing this important habitat that supports Nightjar, Water Voles, and Wilson’s Filmy Fern to name but a few!

Large amounts of scrub clearance and other work at Taf Fechan have been partly supported by a legacy gift. Further habitat recovery and enhancement work has continued at Parc Slip.

How you can help East Glamorgan’s wildlife in 2016

Grass SnakeEssential woodland management such as coppicing and fencing needs to be delivered this year in Glamorgan. We desperately need to fund the materials for this and need to find funds to support the staff time also.

We also need to fund essential survey work within the area to inform our management plans. A new hide is planned for Parc Slip and we need to secure funds for its construction.

Please help Tim, Carys and their volunteers to continue their important work.

Your beautiful east Glamorgan reserves cost many thousands of pounds each year to manage for wildlife and without your help we cannot deliver what is needed. Help towards any of the projects above would ensure they get 2016 off to a flying start.

Please give whatever you feel you can afford.

Thank you
