Weather conditions: sunny, sea state 2, wind direction SW/NW
The coastal path over New Quay was a wildlife hotspot yesterday, with stunning bluebell hills and fauna giving our #Seaseal volunteers some incredible sightings. Surveys were carried out by Birds Rock, during which two of the Cardigan Bay big three were spotted!
Two Atlantic grey seals were seen hauled out on the rocks, actively watching the passing boats. Bottlenose dolphins were also sighted, with groups leaping, feeding and socialising close to the rocks for hours.
Insects such as St. Mark’s flies were out in large numbers – as were a variety of bird species, including linnets, red-billed choughs, whimbrels, wheatears and more. Finally, a rare sighting of a magpie tackling an adder was captured.
Join us for a Wildlife Walk this coming Wednesday to experience wildlife up on the coastal walk from 10:00 – 12:30.
