Skokholm Island is a bird sanctuary of international importance off the Pembrokeshire coast. After managing the island for nearly 60 years, the Wildlife Trust succeeded in buying Skokholm in 2007 but was forced to close it to visitors soon after because the buildings had slipped into total disrepair.
For nearly two years a dedicated TV crew has followed the work of the Wildlife Trust and the Friends of Skokholm and Skomer as they restored the island’s unique buildings and re-opened this national treasure to the public.
With a stellar cast of volunteers, puffins, shearwaters, storm petrels, gulls, guillemots and razorbills this DVD also features never-before-seen photos taken by original 1920’s Skokholm Pioneer Ronald Lockley.
Lockley wrote many books about his experiences on Skokholm, starting with Dream Island in 1930. 80 years on this DVD tells the latest chapter in the Dream Island story.
In 100% recycled, bio-degradable packaging, this DVD contains all six re-mastered episodes from the recent ITV Wales series and a raft of extra scenes. It also features an introduction from Stephanie Hilborne, CEO of the The Wildlife Trusts.
Best of all, 50% of all the profits from the sale will go towards the Skokholm Island restoration fund as the work continues.
