Well he would wouldn’t he? Our favourite Springwatch presenter is a regular visitor to The Teifi Marshes Nature Reserve at Cilgerran, just outside Cardigan. And regular visitors will notice big changes as the iconic, award-winning Welsh Wildlife Centre comes out of its winter hibernation on April 1st.
The building is a beacon of design and fun, nestled in the Teifi valley, with 360˚ panoramic views. This architectural gem brings the outside inside while you relax over a warming coffee, home-made cakes or a hearty lunch of local specialities in the Glasshouse Café.
This year the staff will be unveiling an exciting 3 year programme of wide ranging, new ways to discover the natural world; through play, adventure, creativity and reflection.
Regular visitors will notice the difference straight away; with the extensive, ongoing redevelopment of the signs, reflecting the special character of this Wildlife Reserve by the river Teifi, while gently guiding each visitor’s own personal exploration.
There’s so much for the young and the young at heart! The new indoor Learning Through Play Activity Area, nature trail, seasonal guides now packed with information and the Adventure Play Ground, are just the beginning.
This is the perfect venue for those who feel the need to get outdoors again after the long winter.
“We want our passion to become your passion, as we help you to explore this wonderful wildlife gem, so close to the ancient town of Cardigan” said Sarah Kessell, (Chief Executive of the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales)
This inspirational centre will be introducing so many new things for the 2012 summer season including an osprey platform, wicker sculpture, sculpture trail, willow maze and explorer kits… and they say once you’ve learned you never forget!
With free entry to the Welsh Wildlife Centre and full disabled access, the small charge for all day parking (free if you are a member or a part of the SA43 scheme for local residents) makes it an excellent value family day out. As Naturalist and BBC Springwatch presenter Iolo Williams says ‘What a fantastic place this is…….you’ve got absolutely everything’
