Skomer LIVE returned this July for it's second series! Hosted by Lizzie Daly and Yussef Rafik, we took you on a jam-packed adventure of Skomer island through your screens - we heard from our wardens, learnt about interesting migrants, heard new seabird stories and research (including a LIVE Manx Shearwater chick appearance!), got stuck into glow worms and SO much more!
Never before has Skomer Island been so accessible! The series in 2020 received over ¼ million views and was watched from around the world including USA, Australia, Philippines, Austria, Germany, Canada, Aberdeen, France and Italy. The show also raised £110,000 raised for WTSWW’s emergency COVID19 Appeal.
This year, due to the lifting of restrictions and the island reopening, we came to you LIVE from Skomer Island to open and close the show. As well as new stories and new live guests, we shortened this series into a week long adventure, packing in as much wildlife and new highlights from Skomer this year as possible.
A reminder that....
The Skomer Island web cameras have also returned. Viewers can watch Seals during the morning as they haul out on Skomer’s North Haven beach, Puffins, Razorbills, Guillemots, Rabbits on the cliff top during the afternoon and Manx Shearwaters at night. We warn you though, viewing is quite addictive!
The Wildlife Trust, in partnership with Dragon WiFi control the three live web cameras which are positioned at key locations on the island. To get your Skomer Island web camera fix day or night click here https://www.welshwildlife.org/puffin-camera/
