The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales is seeking to recruit two part-time Skomer Wardens

We are seeking two energetic and experienced candidates to work together in part-time roles as wardens of our internationally important seabird site, Skomer Island. Each post is offered at 25 hours per week on an annualised contract. However, joint applications are encouraged, and the distribution of hours and responsibilities between the two can be negotiated. For an exceptional candidate we would consider a single full-time position. Our preferred start date is 01 September 2018.

Salary: £17,000 pro rata

Location: From the beginning of March to the end of November the posts will be resident on Skomer Island. From December to February inclusive the post can be based in the Welsh Wildlife Centre (Cilgerran) or Parc Slip (Tondu) offices, or the winter work base can be negotiated as remote working is possible for much of the winter. The candidate is responsible for arranging their own winter accommodation. Accommodation on the island for 9 months and associated bills are provided at no charge.

Hours: 25 hours per week for each part time role, on an annualised contract with peak summer hours of up to 48 per week. A time off in lieu system is in operation with most time off being taken in the winter months.

Deadline: 23:59 on Sunday 15 July 2018. Shortlisting will take place the following week; if you have not heard from us by the end of Friday 20 July, please assume you have not been successful. Interviews will take place on Skomer Island on Tuesday 24 July (or in the nearby village of Marloes should weather prevent island access).

Please be aware we are unable to refund interviewees the cost of their transport to interview (with the exception of the boat fee).
