Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre
Introducing the Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre’s latest Wildlife Watch Group session – Discovering Dolphins!
Discover the dolphin species we get here in Welsh waters. Learn to identify our usual suspects such as Jackie and other dolphins using photo ID techniques. Unearth the fascinating ways dolphins are adapted to be the perfect mammal in their environment and determine the subtle differences between them and the fish they share their environment with.
Then scrutinize the waters of New Quay bay with our binoculars for any signs of marine mammal action from the Harbour Wall, conducting your own survey of the environment.
Following up from this, return to the discovery room to reflect on your sightings and discuss how dolphins respond to their environment.
End the day with some dolphin arts and crafts, such as making paper plate leaping dolphins, dolphin suncatchers and dolphin masks.
All children must be accompanied by an adult, and this activity is best suited for children aged 5-13.
Costs £2 per child. Please make sure you are dressed warmly and weather appropriately as we will be spending some time outdoors conducting the survey.
