A brief talk about the Local Wildlife Sites in South-east Wales Project and a look at today’s programme.
10.30am GUEST SPEAKER Dr. Ruth Watkins, Trustee of the Wildlife Trust of South & West Wales
An inspiring talk about how Ruth runs her 70 acre farm in Carmarthenshire where she marries the conservation of our native flora and fauna with traditionally farming our native cattle and sheep.
11.30am Tea ‘n’ Cake Break
Refreshments and chance for discussion
An informal chance to pose your questions to our speakers and Wildlife Trust staff, and meet with other Local Wildlife Site owners, while enjoying a tea or coffee and some cake.
12pm The joys and challenges of Local Wildlife Site ownership
Jane & Tony Pannett, Local Wildlife Site owners
Jane & Tony share some of their experiences of caring for Brook Barn Local Wildlife Site including bracken control, grazing with Exmoor ponies & receiving a Natural Assets Grant from the Monmouthshire Local Wildlife Sites Project.
12.30pm Bumblebees and land management
Sinead Lynch, Conservation Officer (Wales), Bumblebee Conservation Trust
A look at some of the UK’s bumblebees and how to encourage them on your land.
1pm Bring a packed lunch or pre-order food from the Café

A look at how the Nature Reserve is managed for wildlife
