Elm hedgerow showing progression of Dutch Elm Disease, Dr John Gibbs
Dutch Elm disease and lessons learnt
Ynglŷn â'r digwyddiad
Dr John Gibbs was at the centre of the attempt to save Elm trees from the epidemic of Dutch Elm Disease in the 1970s. His appointment in 1970 to the Forestry Commission Research Division coincided with the eruption of the devastating Dutch disease epidemic. In this talk he will reflect on the lessons that can be learnt from a study of this and other important tree diseases - such as ash die-back.
