Wild Islands Fundraiser

Wild Islands Fundraiser

Noble Caledonia Charitable Trust

Passengers onboard a Noble Caledonia seabird expedition cruise raised an incredible £5000 in memory of treasured ornithologist, Ian Bullock.

We are incredibly grateful to the Noble Caledonia Charitable Trust for their generous donation in support of Skomer and Skokholm in memory of their late colleague, Ian Bullock.

Ian was a much loved member of the Noble Caledonia expedition staff, working as a guide on their ships, and an admired member of the naturalist community. His field sketches and natural history artwork showcase wildlife from his adventures all over the world.

After Ian sadly passed away earlier this year, his colleagues decided that a fitting way to honour his enthusiasm for seabirds was to raise funds for Skomer and Skokholm. In addition to general donations, prints of one of Ian's pieces of artwork, titled 'British Seabirds' were sold to passengers. The piece illustrates the range of seabirds the British Isles are home to.

Lisa Morgan, Head of Islands and Marine Conservation at WTSWW, remembers Ian well from her early career in conservation:

I have fond memories of chatting with Ian about the Pembrokeshire islands. He was generous with his knowledge and expertise and I consider him to be one of the most humble and modest naturalists I have had the pleasure to learn from. Thank you to all those who have supported these two magnificent islands in his memory.

A massive thank you to Noble Caledonia passengers, staff and trustees for their generous donation. Your support means that our staff can continue to safeguard the future of the wonderful range of species our wild islands are home to.
