Bracken Beware in Ceredigion

This month we have continued to clear the vegetation growth on the footpaths on several reserves: Coed Simdde Lwyd, Cwm Clettwr, Old Warren Hill and Coed Maidie B Goddard. A fair bit of hill climbing! At the top of Coed Simdde we also bashed a small section of the large patch of bracken: it invades the path every year. Eventually it would be good to get some more trees growing up there.

We’ve also been back to Caeau Llety Cybi several times to remove blackthorn and ragwort and bash and trample bracken. The cattle are now back on the reserve so will hopefully keep them down.

Thank you very much to everyone who has helped this month. If you would like to volunteer with us in Ceredigion there are work parties twice a week out on the reserves, year round, contact Em on 07980932332 or e.foot@welshwildlife.org or to find out more about Ceredigion reserves visit: https://welshwildlife.org/locations/ceredigion/
