Land Based Sightings
September 28, 2018
Weather Conditions: sunny, Wind Direction: N/NW/NE, Sea State 2/3
Another sunny day with great visibility allowed for our Living Seas volunteers to carry out our 9am-7pm land surveys with Bottlenose dolphins being seen in 4 out of 5 surveys! A hand full of larger groups were seen yesterday close to the fish factory headland leaping and lunging. Snowcap was identified in the morning by one of our ShoreFin team; she came in close to the harbour wall and was seen to be foraging at depth. On the last survey of the day, a lone Atlantic Grey seal was seen swimming in front of the harbour wall. Other species seen yesterday included a Heron and a Rock Pipit.
