Land Based Sightings
June 25, 2018
Weather conditions: Sunny, Sea state 0 – 1, Wind Direction: NE – NW
Another ideal day of weather conditions for spotting marine life saw our Living Seas volunteers spot Bottlenose Dolphins across almost every 15 minute interval of all 6 surveys conducted across the day. Dolphins were first observed at 7am travelling round New Quay head towards the harbour. A particularly high number of 20 Dolphins were observed during the 9am survey, foraging across many sights in the bay, such as New Quay head, the cardinal marker & travelling across the bay. Other notable sightings included a mother calf pair foraging close to the entrance of the harbour. These two Dolphins interacted with boats regularly and remained in the area for almost two hours.
