Land Based Sightings
October 21, 2018
Weather Conditions: Sunny/Misty, Wind Direction: S/W/N, Sea State 1-2
A sunny start to the day with a misty end yesterday but all 4 of our land surveys were carried out by our Living Seas Volunteers. Bottlenose dolphins were seen in every survey of the day and showed a variety of behaviours; jumps and leaps, long dives to forage and logging at the surface. These groups were often composed of both adults and younger animals; one of these older animals was Snowdrop as identified by one of our ShoreFin team. Other notable sightings of the day included a pair of razorbills and a small group of turnstones situated on the slope of the Harbour wall just below our survey point!!
