Land Based Sightings
June 8, 2018
Weather conditions: Overcast / rain, sea state: 1-2, wind direction NE – SE
During a day of frequent activity, bottlenose dolphins were recorded in all of yesterday’s land surveys. Staying in the bay throughout the day, the cetaceans were often seen leaping high out the water – as well as playing with fish and seaweed. During the early morning watch one individual travelled very close to the harbour wall, giving our volunteers a fantastic encounter.
In addition, two seals were spotted by the headland – and cormorants could be seen fishing for and catching flatfish species.
