Land Based Sightings
July 7, 2018
Weather conditions: Sunny with spells of Mist, Wind direction: N-NW, Sea state: 0-2
Throughout the day Bottlenose dolphins were spotted in all but one survey, by our volunteers. In the morning some Bottlenose dolphins, including an older dolphin with a younger juvenile, were seen close to the harbour wall and remained in the harbour for up to an hour foraging. Later in the day a sea mist settled in and around the bay, so although surveys were still conducted, it was harder to spot animals further away from the harbour wall. Our volunteers did manage to end the day with a group of Bottlenose dolphins that milled around on the surface of the water, close to the wall. Other interesting sightings from yesterday include a Lion’s mane jellyfish and a compass jellyfish.
