Weather conditions: overcast, sea state 3, wind direction N
It was a fairly quiet survey for our Sea Seal volunteer yesterday at Birds Rock. Just one Atlantic grey seal was sighted in the water at the beginning of the 2 hours, initially looking to haul out before swimming out of the survey area. Towards the end of the survey, however, five bottlenose dolphins were observed. Three adult and two young were recorded, with the two calves seen leaping, head slapping and playing with seaweed!!! A variety of birdlife was also seen: a red kite was spotted circling the cliff top and a kestrel, choughs and gannets flew past!
