Our second survey of the 2011 season was another successful one. SeaTrust chartered the boat for the day in the hope of spotting some of Cardigan Bay's bottlenose dolphins. We decided to head north out from New Quay and this proved to be the right decision. A minimum of 55 bottlenose dolphins counted in three individual groups including calves and juveniles. Lots of socialising behaviours recorded, leaping and bow riding of the survey boat, a great sight for all onboard. We also recorded two harbour porpoises and two Atlantic grey seals, gannets, a variety of auks and other seabirds. Another fantastic start to the 2011 field season.
