5/10/11: Bottlenose dolphins and Atlantic grey seals

2hr survey. Start time 9:00
Weather conditions: overcast/dull, sea state 2, wind S
Seven bottlenose dolphins including two calves and one Atlantic grey seal

Bottlenose dolphins were seen during the first half of the survey. They were seen foraging with some leaping and tail slapping. Most sightings occurred in the area between the fish factory and the harbour wall, with one sighting by the cardinal buoy. Sightings of mother and calves mostly occurred by the harbour wall and the one sighting of Atlantic grey seal was in the first quarter of the survey around the fish factory.

Six bottlenose dolphins and one Atlantic grey seal

Bottlenose dolphins were seen throughout the survey mainly towards the fish factory and some along the harbour wall. They were seen travelling in a South-easterly direction and some foraging behaviour was seen. One Atlantic grey seal was sighted in the first half of the survey near the harbour wall.

Weather conditions: Rain/overcast/dull, sea state 2-3, wind S and SSW
Three bottlenose dolphins

Bottlenose dolphins were sighted in the first half of the survey along the harbour wall up to the fish factory. They were seen foraging while some travelled NNW.

Weather conditions: overcast/dull, sea state 3, wind SSW
Four bottlenose dolphins and one Atlantic grey seal

Sightings of bottlenose dolphins were between the mid and latter part of the survey and were located at the middle of the harbour wall and around the cardinal buoy. The bottlenose dolphins were all seen to be foraging. The Atlantic grey seal was seen midway between the harbour wall and the fish factory.
