31/08/11: 9 bottlenose dolphins, 15 Atlantic grey seals

Four bottlenose dolphins and five Atlantic grey seals

Our first two sightings were of bottlenose dolphins. The first three were seen just off the harbour wall with two adults and one calf. This was followed by a sighting of a single dolphin just off Bird Rock. We had four separate sightings of grey seals. The first sighting was at 10:49h with two seals, one adult and one new born east of Ynys Lochtyn, near the cliffs. Close to this sighting another adult and junior grey seal were seen. The final two sightings were of single female adults only 0.84 km south west of Bird Rock.

Five bottlenose dolphins and six Atlantic grey seals

The first sighting was of a female Atlantic grey seal on land at 12:06h approximately 1 km south west of Bird Rock. The second sighting was of three bottlenose dolphins, two adults and one junior seen foraging just north of Ynys Lochtyn. Later two more bottlenose dolphins were seen at 12:40h again seen foraging. Following this there were three separate sightings of Atlantic grey seals all seen at various locations between Ynys Lochtyn and Cwmtydu.

Two separate sightings of Atlantic grey seals were seen during this trip. The first was seen west of Ynys Lochtyn and the second was seen south west of Bird Rock resting.

There were two separate sightings of Atlantic grey seals during this survey, both female and in the water 0.5 km south west of Bird Rock.
