31/07/2016: 21 bottlenose dolphins and 14 Atlantic grey seals

Seven Atlantic grey seals

Shortly into the survey, four Atlantic grey seals were sighted hauled out on the rocks. Near the end of the survey, a further three Atlantic grey seals were sighted, also hauled out on the rocks.

Eleven bottlenose dolphins and four Atlantic grey seals

Shortly into the survey, a group of three bottlenose dolphins were observed leaping from the water, followed shortly by a sighting of another group of three bottlenose dolphins travelling in an easterly direction. A pair of Atlantic grey seals were also seen, hauled out on the rocks. Roughly half an hour later, a further two Atlantic grey seals were sighted, both observed bottling in the water. Towards the end of the survey, a group of five bottlenose dolphins, including a juvenile, were observed foraging.

Ten bottlenose dolphins and three Atlantic grey seals

Shortly into the survey, a large group of seven bottlenose dolphins, including one juvenile and one calf, were observed foraging and travelling in an easterly direction. This was shortly followed by a sighting of a pair of Atlantic grey seals, both hauled out on the rocks. Over the next hour, two fulmars were spotted flying past, and another Atlantic grey seal was sighted in the water. Towards the end of the survey, a group of three bottlenose dolphins were observed travelling in a westerly direction, and a red kite was sighted in the air.
