31/07/14: Bottlenose Dolphins

2hr survey. start time 09:00
Weather conditions: Overcast/dull. Sea state 2-3. Wind NNW.
Five bottlenose dolphins.

Halfway through the survey a bottlenose dolphin was seen foraging just off the harbour wall. A group of three bottlenose dolphins (including one young animal) were also seen foraging in the bay between the cardinal buoy and the fish factory. This group were around for the rest of the survey and later travelling south just past the end of the harbour wall.

Weather conditions: Overcast/dull with brief periods of fair and rain. Sea state 1-2. Wind SSW-W.
Five bottlenose dolphins.

Bottlenose dolphins were seen throughout the survey, with a mother can calf foraging just off the end of the harbour wall at the beginning of the survey, and another individual travelling past the end of the wall. these individuals were continually seen foraging throughout the bay, and soon a second mother and calf pair were also seen in the bay giving a total of 5 animals in the bay.

Weather conditions: Overcast/fair. Sea state 1. Wind SW.
Six bottlenose dolphins.

Bottlenose dolphins were seen throughout the survey, with individuals foraging just off the harbour wall for the first half of the survey. A mother and calf were seen half way through the survey foraging near the cardinal buoy. Five bottlenose dolphins were there seen foraging and tail slapping near the fish factory. These individuals moved around the bay and toward the end of the survey there were 4 individuals including one calf foraging and tail slapping in the bay just off Traeth Dolau.

Three bottlenose dolphins.

Bottlenose dolphins were seen for the majority of the survey, with individuals foraging out in the bay near the cardinal buoy.

Weather conditions: Fair. Sea state 1. Wind W-S.
Four bottlenose dolphins.

Two bottlenose dolphins were seen at the beginning of the survey near the carinal buoy, where they remained for the majority of the survey, at one stage coming close into the harbour wall to forage. Two further individuals were seen foraging near the fish factory and two dolphins were seen travelling across the bay. Near the end of the survey four dolphins including one calf were seen travelling fast, with splashy leaps west across the bay towards the fish factory.
