30/09/10 – Seven bottlenose dolphins and four Atlantic grey seals

1.5hr start time: 10:30

Weather Conditions: sea state 1-2, >10km, swell low.

The first sighting was one Grey Seal pup, sighted at 10:49 hauled out to the west of New Quay headland. Boat traffic at the time was one fishing vessel.

The second sighting of the day was an adult bottlenose dolphin spotted at 10:50. It was spotted to the west of New Quay headland and was travelling in an easterly direction.

The third sighting was one adult Atlantic grey seal of indeterminate sex. It was seen in the water offshore from Cwm Tydu at 11:03. Boat traffic at the time comprised of two commercial fishing vessels and one motor boat.

The fourth sighting was of a group of three bottlenose dolphins, two adults and one calf; they were spotted at 11:43 west from New Quay headland. They were seen leaping, foraging and travelling in various directions.

Weather Conditions: sea state 1, >10km, swell low.

The first sighting was of a group of three adult bottlenose dolphins they were spotted at 12:20 just to the west of New Quay headland. They were seen leaping and travelling in an easterly direction.

The second sighting of the day was a pair of Atlantic grey seals comprising of an adult and a pup, presumably a mother and child. They were spotted at 12:28 hauled out on the beach west of New Quay headland.
