30/07/2017: Bottlenose Dolphins and Atlantic Grey Seal

6(1) Bottlenose Dolphins

Two adults and one juvenile were present at the start of the survey foraging off the headland. The mother and calf later moved towards the cardinal buoy before leaving the area in the second hour. Three adults were spotted far off the headland in the final period.

1 Atlantic grey seal

A single male Atlantic grey seal was seen swimming close to the harbour wall and then later bottling off shore north of the harbour wall.

6(1) Bottlenose Dolphins

Mid survey a group of 4 dolphins including a calf was sighted near the cardinal buoy. They then moved closer to north of the harbour wall whilst a further 2 adults were spotted near the cardinal buoy.

The dolphins from the previous survey joined together to form a loose group foraging in the bay and close to the harbour wall throughout the survey

5 Bottlenose Dolphins

At the start of the survey a group of 5 dolphins was present off the headland whilst the mother and calf from the previous survey were not seen again. One dolphin separated from the group and foraged close to the harbour wall for the next 90 mins before leaving the area. The remaining group of 4 stayed off the headland circling with leaps and lunges.
