29/10/2015: 41 bottlenose dolphins and 8 Atlantic grey seals

17 bottlenose dolphins, 1 atlantic grey seal
An Atlantic Grey Seal was seen in the first 15 minute survey and then Bottlenose dolphins were seen throughout this survey in a variety of different sized groups. Initially there were groups of 5,2 and two of 1 ranging between the fish factory and harbour wall showing foraging and leaping behaviours. These behaviours continued throughout the rest of the survey with the dolphins gradually moving over to the cardinal marker. The numbers seen dropped to a group of three by the middle of the survey and then a new group of four were spotted, again by the cardinal marker. The group of four, including two calves, stayed for the rest of the survey feeding by the cardinal marker and along the reef.

Weather conditions: Fair, sea state 2, wind direction SW - NW
8 bottlenose dolphins, 3 atlantic grey seal
Dolphins were seen for the majority of the survey. A group of 2 and two groups of one were seen towards the fish factory and they then moved over towards the cardinal marker, where they were joined by another two groups of two, showing predominately foraging and travelling behaviours. They left the survey area for the last 45 minutes of the survey during which time 3 Atlantic Grey seals were spotted close to the harbour wall.

10 bottlenose dolphins, 2 atlantic grey seal
After the first 15 minutes of no sightings, Dolphins were again spotted throughout this survey in three groups. They were first spotted by the fish factory before travelling over towards the cardinal marker showing foraging behaviours. The three groups spent the rest of the survey travelling back and forth between the fish factory and the cardinal marker foraging. 2 Atlantic grey seals were spotted near the harbour wall during the last 30 minutes of the survey.

6 bottlenose dolphins, 2 atlantic grey seal
Bottlenose dolphins were again seen throughout the last survey of the day. The survey started with a group of 2, a mother and calf, by the fish factory. They were then joined by three adults and travelled over to the cardinal marker. They stayed in this area for the majority of the rest of the survey before 4 of them left, and an additional dolphin joined the individual staying behind. These two were then spotted leaping around 2km behind the cardinal marker. 2 Atlantic grey seals were spotted in the last hour of the survey, one was briefly spotted in the bay and the other stayed for the last half an hour of the survey in front of the harbour wall.
